Mother, daughter 'gang-raped' in Narsingdi
A mother and her daughter were “gang-raped” on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur area of Narsigndi on Friday night.
Police arrested two accused -- Delwar Hossain, 30, and Mohammad Shafik, 25, -- in connection with the incident after a case was lodged under Weman And Children Repression Act with Shibpur Police Station against six people this morning, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
According to the case statement, the victims were returning to Habiganj by a bus from Dhaka’s Sayedabad bus terminal around 3:00pm yesterday and the bus broke down as it reached near the Sristigar bus stand in Shibpur area around 6:30pm.
In the meantime, some unknown people came to the victims and assured them of helping to get on another bus from a nearby area, the case statement reads.
At one stage, the criminals took them to a nearby abandoned jute mills and raped them taking the victims to separate rooms, according to the case statement.
Later, the criminals left the place as the victims, aged around 52 and 30, were screaming after the incident.
Syed Amirul Haque Shamim, residential doctor of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, said the forensic tests of the victims have already been done and a medical board will make its decision in this regard public on Monday.
Mohammad Momenul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station, said police along with the victims conducted raid in the area and arrested Hossain and Shafik, who primarily confessed to the crime.
Following confessional statements of the duo, police later identified the rest four accused -- Mohammad Mokhles, 33, Mohammad Badal, 42, Babu Mia, 26, and Mohammad Alamgir, 40, the police official said.
The arrestees were produced before a court later, he said adding that the law enforcers were continuing drive to net the other accused.
