Suspended Ctg jailer Sohel Rana again seeks HC bail
The suspended jailer of Chattogram Central Jail Sohel Rana Biswas has again sought bail from the High Court in a money laundering case.
He submitted a petition to the HC on August 24 through his lawyer Shalia Rawshan, seeking bail in the case.
In the petition, Sohel Rana claimed he was not involved in any offence, but he was a victim of circumstances, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) AKM Amin Uddin Manik said.
Citing the bail petition, DAG Amin said Sohel Rana told the HC that he was the only earning member of his family and he has been suffering in jail for a long time.
The virtual HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel may hold hearing on the bail petition of Sohel Rana Biswas tomorrow, he added.
On October 27, 2018, law enforcers arrested Sohel Rana with over Tk 44 lakh, fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) worth Tk 2.50 crore and Phensedyl from Kishoreganj.
Later, police filed two separate cases with Bhairab Railway Police Station against Sohel Rana on charges of money laundering and possessing drugs under the Narcotics Control Act.
