A young man was beaten to death allegedly by his wife's maternal uncle and his men at Adalatpara in the city on Monday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sabuj, 26, son of Abdul Barek of Madhabpur village in Burichang upazila. Locals said Sabuj married Fahima Akhter Mim, 20, daughter of Shahjahan of Alampur village in Debidwar upazila, 11 months ago. The couple used to lock in quarrel over family matters. Both sides sat in a meeting to settle the issue at the chamber of former public prosecutor advocate Mujibur Rahman in the city in the afternoon. At one stage, Mim's uncle Arman and his associates beat Sabuj, leaving him critically injured. Sabuj was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
