No scope to change new pay scale: Muhith
Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said there is no scope to change the newly announced national pay scale.
The minister came up with the remark while talking to reporters after paying his income tax through online at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka.
Those who will enforce movement over the issue will gain nothing, he said.
Replying to a question, the minister said, “The demand of public university teachers over their pay scale was made out of ignorance.”
“Besides, Bangladesh Bank employees’ movement over the pay scale issue is totally baseless. I don’t find any logic in their movement,” he said adding “Though I had promised them that they will get a separate pay scale, after the announcement of the new pay scale there is no need of it, I think.”
Talking about the MPO (monthly payment order)-listed institutions, the minister said, “It’s a useless facility. It’s only in the interest of teachers, not for students and institutions. However, we’ve formed a committee to look into the MPO facility, and necessary steps will be taken following its recommendation.”
