PM opens mobile therapy for autistic people
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the countrywide mobile therapy van service for the welfare of autistic and other physically-challenged people.
Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the services, unveiling plaques, on the premises of Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) today.
She then saw a van and was apprised about its various features.
Later, the prime minister addressed the audience in the function marking the 24th International Day of Persons with Disabilities and National Disability Day-2015.
Speaking at the function, Sheikh Hasina said her government has so far procured 20 such vans while 14 more will be procured soon.
She said the mobile therapy vans will move across the country and render different necessary services to physically-challenged and disabled people, including therapy, hearing test, referring and counseling.
The prime minister thanked the Ministry of Social Welfare for introducing such services.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Social Welfare, Dr Mohammad Mozammel Hossain and Ministry Secretary Tariqul Islam were present at the event.
