Road crashes kill 6 in Habiganj, Moulvibazar
Six people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Habiganj and Moulvibazar districts this morning.
In Habiganj, three people were killed and five others injured as a bus crashed into a human hauler on Dhaka-Sylhet road near Sayestaganj Police Station in Sadar upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Shah Alam Bulbul, 40, son of Samuj Ali of Nishapot village of Sadar upazila, Binod Kor, 40, son of Kajol Kor of Tugli village of Bahubal upazila and human hauler driver Ziaur Rahman, 28, of Haritola village of Madhobpur upazila.
Yasinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sayestaganj Police Station, said the accident took place in the area around 10:45am when the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Ruposhi Bangla Paribahan’ hit the human hauler, leaving seven human hauler passengers critically injured.
Later, the injured were rushed to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital where doctors declared Shah Alam dead. Ziaur succumbed to his injuries around 12:00pm and Binod around 1:45pm.
In Moulvibazar, three people were killed as a truck rammed a rickshaw crashed on Shah Mostafa road in the district town around this morning.
Two of the deceased were identified as Gautam Roy, 25 and Sawrav Roy, 38, residents of Club road area of the town.
Quoting witnesses, police said the speeding truck hit the rickshaw around 11:30 am, leaving the rickshaw puller dead on the spot and its two passengers critically injured.
The injured passengers- Gautam and Sawrav- died on the way to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Police arrested truck driver Abul Hossain from the spot. A case was filed in this connection.
