Taramon Bibi shifted to Dhaka for better treatment
Bir Protik Taramon Bibi who was undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) has been shifted to Dhaka for better treatment this morning.
Taramon was referred to the National Institute of Chest Disease and Hospital for better treatment, said Prof Dr Md Saiful Bari, head of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital.
Taramon, 68, who was awarded Bir Protik for her outstanding contribution to the 1971 Liberation War, was admitted to the MMCH on Monday due to severe respiratory and lungs diseases. She was taken there from her village home in Rajibpur upazila of Kurigram, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
Taramon, accompanied by her son, daughter and Dr Tariqul Islam of MMCH’s CCU, reached Dhaka around 11:00am, sources said.
A three-member medical board, headed by Prof Saiful Bari, was formed yesterday to check the physical condition of Taramon. The other members of the board were Prof Dr Shankar Narayan Das, head of medicine Department and principal of Mymensingh Medical College; and Prof Dr Jahid Hossain of Respiratory Medicine Department of the hospital.
Earlier, Taramon was admitted to Rangpur Combined Military Hospital in January and was released later that month, said hospital sources. As her condition deteriorated recently, she was taken to the MMCH, doctors at MMCH said.
Her condition has improved during treatment at MMCH, informed hospital sources.
The MMCH authorities bore all her treatment expenses at the hospital, said Brig Gen Nasir Uddin Ahamed, director of the hospital.
