United Airways plane makes emergency landing in Chhattisgarh
A United Airways flight with 173 people on board made emergency landing in Raipur city, capital of central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, Friday evening due to some technical snag.
The plane, on its way to Muscat from Dhaka, developed an engine problem, forcing it to divert and land at Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, an airport official told Indian news agency PTI.
"The emergency landing was safe. The plane landed at 7:00pm," the official added.
All necessary arrangements were made before landing. Fire engines and ambulances were stationed near the runway, he said.
Indian authorities were in touch with the Bangladesh airlines for making alternative arrangement for the passengers to fly to their destinations, he added.
