I.

Words on pavement walls

Echo of justice and change.

A chance to embrace and shape our future

With words of healing and grace,

Oh how they want it to erase.

With words we create,

And words we destroy.

With every sentence we make a choice

To stand for good, or simply make a noise.

Building bridges, tearing down the walls.

We speak of freedom, justice, and equality for all;

From halls of power to streets of opulence.

Hoping that our words can spark an alternative escape.

Shattering expectations as our words unite,

Demanding action, flags raised high.

They said the pen is mightier than the sword.

Crafting a world of yours and my design.

So let us speak,

And let us write.

As words have the ability to ignite.

Then maybe someday they'll realize,

Words have the power to change the world

That we dreamt of and idealized.

by Sara Kabir

II.

I'm not here to be the seasons

Of your love affair

I've got too much on my plate

Quite early on the rose ensnared

Pick up that blasted payphone

My mother's in pain

It's all these swift life changes

All neurons frayed

Keep your made up stories far away

by Mastura Tasnim

III.

Spring comes, spring goes

Green falls, green grows

It rains. It snows.

New buds, new rose.

Autumn leaves after summer breeze

The world keeps re-emerging, doesn't it?

A forever repeating rhythm

of creation and destruction

A frustrating pattern

of clarity followed by confusion

Plagued by changes upon cruel changes

I'm glad you are one of my constants
