I am also a psychologist, says B,CB boss
The chief of Board, Cricket Board (B,CB) Kamrul Hasan Phapa has said that along with being extremely knowledgeable about cricket, having outlandish business and organisational wisdom, he is also an expert psychologist.
This development came after he diagnosed and prognosed the mental condition of a star cricketer, who is very lucky to draw a salary at the end of the month despite not playing.
"I talked to him, and he talked to me. When the latter was happening, I diagnosed that what he has is a case of IPL-itis. It is a little-known problem that no one else in the world can diagnose.
"I have also decided that he will completely recover by May 1, so I have given him leave till then," Phapa told Satireday.
Asked how he arrived at the diagnosis, Phapa gave a glimpse into the inner workings of his brilliant mind.
"I also know exactly how long it takes for mental problems to develop. This cricketer told me that he would go on tour two weeks ago, and then before the team was supposed to leave, he said he is mentally unprepared. Mental problems don't just show up. That's how I knew it was IPL-itis. I have experience in these things. I have spent a long time working with and consuming pharmaceutical products."
When reminded that cricketers like England's Marcus Trescothick and Jonathan Trott had suddenly left tours of India and Australia because of mental struggles, Phapa said, "Oh, that's different. Those were English diseases. It doesn't happen in this country. Trust me, I am a psychologist."
