Mujahidul Hassan’s second solo exhibition ‘Memory & Shadow’ concludes
Prominent artist Mujahidul Hassan Rana's second solo exhibition "Memory & Shadow" concluded at the gallery, Safiuddin Shilpalay, in Dhanmondi.
The five-day exhibition featured 31 abstract and semi-abstract paintings by the artist painted with acrylic. The paintings were inspired by his own childhood memories.
"I was born and brought up in Puran Dhaka and my grandparents' house was situated at Kolkata. I am used to seeing old architectural house and all of my paintings highlights those memories. It isn't realistic and thus I created this abstract and semi-abstract art forms through the fragmented bits and pieces of my memories," said Mujahidul Hassan Rana.
"During my childhood, I used to imagine the faces of animals and humans within the dam walls of my old house. I had this fascination to find imaginary faces through the cracks of the dam wall. This was the inspiration behind my Shadow paintings," added the artist.
Mujahidul Hassan Rana, Founder Director of Cubic Art School, completed his studies from Faculty of Fine Art, Dhaka University. He had his first exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata, India. The artist has participated in various group exhibitions in India, South Korea, Thailand among others.
