The heart of Dhaka receives a glow-up
Last year, Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) received a glow-up with renovated tea stalls beautifully painted in rickshaw art, designed by expert artisans.
This initiative was taken by a team of young students, which included Shirin Akter Shela, the first Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019, alongside designer Tasmit Afiyat Arny.
Welcoming spring this year, the team has reunited to give TSC, considered the heart of Dhaka University, another stunning look. Titled "Chayer Cup-e Banglar Mukh", the tea stalls were repainted and inaugurated through an inaugural ceremony yesterday, at the premises of TSC.
"We invited people for tea, where they enjoyed an open mic concert," said Shela, who is the primary planner of this creative venture.
Speaking to The Daily Star, she also informed that this inventiveness, focusing on the heritage of our folk culture, will continue. "We tried to reflect folk culture, including the fairs, Circus, Nokshi art, puppet dances, and Nobanno Utshob (Bangla new year's celebration), among other cultural activities."
Shela continued, "We picked TSC because these tea stalls will remind people of their heritage, as they go through their day-to-day work. This place is the heart of Dhaka University, and this is where these artworks are most fitting".
Apart from Shela, the team includes Shemanto Saha, Zerin Sinthee, Alfa Amrar, Ashit Debnath Antu, and Jubayer Ahammed.
