Actress Swara Bhaskar marries man she met at Anti-CAA rally
On January 8, renowned Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar shared a picture with a man and wrote 'this could be love'. She yesterday shared a video, revealing that the mystery man is Fahad Ahmad, the state president of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha, a youth wing of the political Samajwadi Party, Maharastra. The two registered their marriage yesterday (February 16), and also celebrated it with their families and close friends.
How she met Fahad is a story on its own. Swara Bhaskar had protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act of 2019, and had taken part in several rallies. At one such protest, she crossed paths with Fahad Ahmad, at the time a student leader sharing the same views as her. Their first selfie together was also during a rally.
Fahad was a fearless student leader as well. In 2018, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) withdrew financial aid to students from certain classes who were eligible for the Union government's post-matriculation scholarship. The students' union had called for a strike, and Fahad Ahmad was the general secretary during that time – they fought for 300 days against the decision.
He went as far as to refusing to accept the degree during the convocation ceremony, from the chairperson of the institute at the time.
