Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has addressed the media for the first time following his release from custody related to a fan's tragic death at the premiere of his upcoming film "Pushpa 2: The Rule."

Speaking to reporters outside the detention centre, the actor stated, "As a responsible citizen, I will fully comply with the legal process. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family. This was an immensely unfortunate incident."

The actor was taken into custody on Friday afternoon from his residence in Banjara Hills following a tragic incident at the premiere of his highly anticipated film, "Pushpa 2: The Rule."

The event, held on December 4 at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre, turned chaotic when a stampede broke out after Allu Arjun and co-star Rashmika Mandanna made a surprise appearance.

Amid the turmoil, 35-year-old Revathi lost her life, while her young son sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalised. The deceased's husband later filed an FIR, naming Allu Arjun as one of the accused.

A lower court initially remanded Allu Arjun to 14 days of judicial custody. However, the Telangana High Court later granted him interim bail for four weeks on the same day. Despite the bail approval, the actor was forced to spend the night in jail.

According to jail authorities, the release order was not received in time to process his discharge.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's legal team criticised the delay, labeling it as "illegal detention." The actor's lawyer further stated that they plan to pursue appropriate legal action against this procedural lapse.

Political slugfest over arrest

The arrest of Allu Arjun sparked a political controversy, with both the BJP and BRS criticising the Congress-led government in Telangana over its handling of the situation.

They questioned the treatment given to the actor, suggesting political bias. In response, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud defended the government's actions, stating that "the law is impartial and will run its course, regardless of an individual's stature."
