Anjana Sultana, a prominent actress and dancer with a career spanning over 300 films, is currently under intensive care. She has been placed on ventilation support as part of her treatment. For the past two days, she has been admitted to PG Hospital after her condition deteriorated. Earlier, she had been receiving medical care at another hospital in the capital. However, the severity of her health required an urgent transfer.

There is a large crowd at the entrance of Intensive Care Unit-2 in the capital's PG Hospital. Relatives of the patients inside are waiting. Some are even going inside. Among them are a few from the film fraternity, though none are particularly well-known. They are sitting on benches, talking. Some are standing and conversing as well.

The atmosphere is filled with a shared wish for Anjanadi to recover fully and to continue inspiring others for many years ahead.

Someone is speaking on the phone with director Chotku Ahmed. When asked about his identity, he replied, "I am an actor in cinema. I've known Anjanadi for 20 years. She has always been very affectionate toward me. We are all praying for her recovery."

In a quiet corner, three elderly women were deeply involved in a conversation about Anjana. Upon inquiry, their identities were revealed—one was Nishat, a former actress, and the other was actress Swapna.

Reflecting on life's inevitabilities, they shared with The Daily Star, stating, "Death is a reality we all must face. But we earnestly wish that Anjanadi recovers soon and continues to be with us for many more years."

Shortly after, Anjana's son, Nishat Moni, arrived on the seventh floor, visibly distressed, holding a small packet in his hand. Though his emotions were evident, he made an effort to interact with those gathered around him, responding to their questions about his mother's condition.

During a brief conversation with Nishat Moni, he shared that the stress of his mother's illness had taken a severe toll on him, causing him to faint twice.

He made an emotional appeal, expressing, "I request everyone to pray for my mother's recovery. I truly hope she regains her strength and returns to the vibrant person she once was."

When reflecting on his last conversation with his mother, Nishat Moni shared, "The final time we spoke was on the day she was admitted to the hospital. She asked me for ice cream, and I replied, 'Recover first, then I'll get you all the ice cream you want.'"

He continued, "My mother also confided in her close friend, Runu Aunty, saying, 'If anything happens to me, please look after my son.'"

When asked about his expectations from the government, Nishat Moni expressed, "My mother is not just an artiste; she is a national icon. All we ask for is that the state ensures her access to proper medical care."

Ripon, a family member and son-in-law, also shared his thoughts during the conversation. He remarked, "We simply want the government to provide her with the medical treatment she deserves."

At one point, Nishat Monir mentioned, "Sabina Yasmin, the celebrated singer, has been the most consistent in checking on my mother's health. We are deeply thankful for her kindness.

Alongside her, actors Sohel Rana and Alamgir have also shown their concern by reaching out to us."

Interestingly, "Dossu Bonhur" marked the cinematic debut of Anjana, a film produced by Sohel Rana's production house, where he also took on the lead role.

Anjana's illustrious career has been recognised with numerous National Film Awards, cementing her legacy in the film industry.
