Bangladeshi stars lend voices to ‘MacGyver’

After more than a decade, the iconic American TV series "MacGyver" has made a comeback on BTV, now with a fresh Bengali dubbing. The series, which gained immense popularity in Bangladesh during the 1990s, returns with improved voice work aimed at engaging a new generation of viewers.
"MacGyver" follows the story of a scientist who works as a secret agent for the US government, using his scientific knowledge and quick thinking to escape life-threatening situations. Each episode presents a new challenge, with the protagonist crafting complex devices out of everyday items—an element that fascinated audiences across Bangladesh during its original run.
Following its initial broadcast on BTV, "MacGyver" became a cultural phenomenon. View cards and stickers featuring the character were sold in large quantities, and young fans often emulated his fashion and attempted to recreate his on-screen tricks. The show was previously rebroadcast in 2010 due to popular demand.
This time around, the series has been reintroduced by SRK Studio, with actor Shajal Noor lending his voice to the titular role. Known for his earlier voice work in "Legend of the Blue Sea", Shajal brings new life to the beloved character in this refreshed version of "MacGyver".
Alongside Shajal, several renowned actors have contributed their voices to various episodes, including Abul Hayat, Jaya Ahsan, Tasnia Farin, Zakia Bari Mamo, and Nazia Haque Orsha.
Other voice artistes involved in the project include Mumtaheena Chowdhury Toya, Aisha Khan, Soumya Jyoti, Samiul Alam Jibon, Kamrul Hasan, Chondamoni, Rozy Siddiqui, Shanarei Devi Shanu, and Mehjabeen Rinthy, among others.
The series "MacGyver" is currently being broadcast daily at 1 pm and 9 pm on the OTT platform iScreen's live TV and online TV channel SRK TV.
