‘Barbie’ finally gets a digital release date
"Barbie" and her adventures in her dreamhouse will be available in your homes next week as it's all set to debut on digital platforms.
The super hit movie will be available for $29.99 on various digital platforms, from September 12. It will be showcased on popular OTT platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play and Vudu.
This musical comedy, directed by Greta Gerwig, known for her work on films such as "Little Women" and "Lady Bird", takes viewers on a wonderful voyage with stereotypical "Barbie", played by Margot Robbie.
"Barbie's" character deals with an existential crisis, which prompts her to leave her pink paradise in 'Barbie Land' to find solutions in the real world.
Ryan Gosling plays Ken, while Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Kate McKinnon, Kingsley Ben-Adir, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, Rhea Perlman, and Ariana Greenblatt play various versions of Barbie and Ken.
Warner Bros has a special treat for fans eagerly awaiting the return of "Barbie's" world. Beginning on September 22, the summer blockbuster will have a one-week IMAX release with exclusive post-credits footage, a rare addition not found in the current cinema version.
Greta Gerwig, the film's director, expressed her gratitude for the amazing support from "Barbie" fans worldwide, emphasising the film's journey from the large screen to the massive IMAX experience. Gerwig's direction also establishes her as the first solo female director to break the $1 billion mark at the global box office.
Margot Robbie points out that "Barbie's" ongoing appeal makes her an intriguing and multifaceted figure. "She's always been evolving. I feel like this film is the next step."
