Hansal Mehta's 'Scoop' bags best awards at Busan Film Festival
Hansal Mehta's "Scoop" won Best Asian TV Series and Best Actress for Karishma Tanna at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2023 in Busan, South Korea.
The Netflix series was nominated in these two categories and bagged awards for it. Hansal announced the good news on his X account.
"Two nominations and two awards for 'Scoop' on Netflix at Busan Film Festival. Huge honour for the entire team," he wrote on the microblogging site.
Karishma Tanna, who was in attendance at the ceremony, stepped on stage to accept her award.
"The 2023 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, the representative content event of the Busan International Film Festival that awards excellent TV, OTT, and online content across Asia, has announced this year's winners and winners," the festival page posted on X. Congratulations!"
"Scoop" is based on Jigna Vora's book "Behind Bars In Byculla" and tells the narrative of intrepid crime writer Jagruti Vora (played by Karishma Tanna). When a journalist colleague was murdered by the Chhota Rajan gang in 2011, Jagruti's inquiry quickly led to her detention and unjust accusation. It became available on Netflix in June.
The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2023 took place on October 8 at the BIFF Theatre, Busan Cinema Centre, as part of the Busan International Film Festival. The event began on October 4 and will run until October 13.
