I want to play Feluda next: Dev
Tollywood actor Dev is boldly stepping away from his romantic hero image in commercial movies, embracing a series of story-based films. Challenging himself with diverse roles, from Nagendraprasad in "Golandaj" to Tintin in "Kishmish", Dev has been proving his acting prowess in script-based films.
But for now, the audience is waiting for his latest film, "Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya', which will be released on August 11.
In the past year, Dev has faced criticism for taking on the role of Byomkesh, the iconic detective character. Nevertheless, the seasoned actor revealed his aspirations to expand his repertoire further. He expressed his keen interest in portraying Feluda, another revered detective character created by Satyajit Ray.
Dev shared, "If I have the opportunity to play Feluda, why wouldn't I take it? Someday, maybe I will tell Babuda (Sandip Roy) that I want to do Feluda."
Byomkesh Bakshi, an immensely popular character created by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay between the 1930s and '60s, boasts 32 intriguing detective stories, with the sleuth often referring to himself as "Satyanweshi" - The Truth Seeker.
Before Dev, other talented actors like Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu Sengupta, and Parambrata Chatterjee have taken on the role of Bakshi in recent years. Among them, Abir and Parambrata have also embodied the beloved Feluda in their acting careers.
"Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya" directed by Birsa Dasgupta, stars Dev alongside Rukmini Maitra, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Shantilal Mukherjee, Rajatav Dutta, Satyam Bhattacharya, and more, promising an enthralling cinematic experience.
