French actor Juliette Binoche has been appointed as the president of the International Jury for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, which is set to take place in May. She succeeds last year's jury president, "Barbie" director Greta Gerwig.

In a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Binoche reflected on her journey with Cannes, saying, "In 1985, I walked up the steps for the first time with the enthusiasm and uncertainty of a young actress; I never imagined I'd return 40 years later in the honorary role of president of the Jury. I appreciate the privilege, the responsibility, and the absolute need for humility."

Binoche has been a familiar face at Cannes over the years, collaborating with celebrated directors such as Michael Haneke ("Code Unknown", "Cache"), David Cronenberg ("Cosmopolis"), Krzysztof Kieslowski ("Three Colors: Red"), Olivier Assayas ("Clouds of Sils Maria"), Claire Denis ("Let the Sunshine In"), and Anh Hung Tran ("The Taste of Things"). She received Cannes' Best Actress Award in 2010 for her role in Abbas Kiarostami's "Certified Copy".

Notably, Binoche holds the rare distinction of winning Best Actress at all three major European film festivals: Cannes in 2010, Venice in 1994 for "Three Colors: Blue", and Berlin in 1997 for "The English Patient". She also earned an Oscar and Bafta for her performance in "The English Patient", a record she shares with Julianne Moore.

In addition to her upcoming Cannes duties, Binoche has recently portrayed Coco Chanel in Apple TV's "The New Look" and reunited with Ralph Fiennes for "The Return", a fresh adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey". She also serves as president of the European Film Academy, a role she took on last year.

The 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 13 to May 24, 2025.
