‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, ‘Shabaash Mithu’ under fire for ‘ridiculing’ differently-abled people
Bollywood can't seem to catch a break, as now a complaint has been filed against "Laal Singh Chaddha" and "Shabaash Mithu" for 'allegedly' ridiculing differently-abled people. The complaint was filed in the court of commissioner for persons with disabilities.
The complainant is Dr Satendra Singh, co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities, and someone who suffers from 70 percent locomotor disability.
As stated in the notice, the court of commissioner for persons with disabilities has requested comments from the directors of "Laal Singh Chaddha" and "Shabaash Mithu", the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the Union information and broadcasting ministry regarding the complaint.
The complaint alleges that both films violate the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016, through the use of negative remarks against differently-abled people.
