One of the most delightful scenes in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" was animated by a 14-year-old prodigy named Preston Mutanga. The creators of the film first reached out to him after he recreated the first trailer for "Across the Spider-Verse" with Legos.

According to a New York Times article, the creators were planning to include a Lego scene as a tribute to the writer-producers, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who had previously directed "The Lego Movie".

Reportedly, despite their scepticism, Preston's father built him a new computer and bought a state-of-the-art graphics card, so their son could work on the project after finishing his homework.

Preston's work actually came into the limelight after he posted about it on Twitter. While working, he would have regular video meetings with Chris Miller to go over his progress and get feedback.

"'The Lego Movie' was inspired by people making films with Lego bricks at home," Phil Lord told the Times. "That's what made us want to make the movie. Then the idea in 'Spider-Verse' is that a hero can come from anywhere. And here comes this heroic young person who's inspired by the movie that was inspired by people like him."
