Mosharraf Karim stars in JU’s production of ‘Mohashunnye Cycle’
Renowned actor Mosharraf Karim has been featured in a short film developed by Jahangirnagar University's Drama and Dramatics Department. The film is an adaptation of Shahaduzzaman's celebrated short story "Mohashunnye Cycle".
The short film, retaining the original title, has been directed by Tahua Labib Tura, a student from the Department of Drama and Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University. In this production, the actor takes on the lead role of Rezaul Karim.
Mosharraf Karim was drawn to the project by the screenplay and expressed his excitement about working with a team of young creatives, stating, "It's been a long time since I've felt this satisfied."
On December 16, scenes for the film were shot at Jahangirnagar University. Speaking to Prothom Alo yesterday, director Tahua Labib shared, "Mosharraf Karim completely embodied the character of Rezaul Karim. Having an actor of his calibre in our debut film is a truly memorable milestone in our journey."
This production is part of an academic initiative by fourth-year students from the Drama and Dramatics Department at Jahangirnagar University, including Mrittika Haque, Joaeyra Mehzabin, Tahua Labib Tura, Joyanta Tripura, Arshad Habib, and Arnob Siddiqui.
Mazaharul Razu oversaw cinematography for the film, with the cast featuring Mosharraf Karim, Sayma Siraji, and Rahat, among others.
Sayem Joy has lent his voice to a song, with Jahid Ahmed overseeing the editing process. The film is scheduled for release on a digital platform in January.
