Paris and Toulouse film festivals showcase Bangladeshi film ‘Ajob Karkhana’
The Bangladeshi film "Ajob Karkhana" (Song of the Soul) participates in film festivals in France's Paris and Toulouse. Today (October 6), the film is being screened at the Cinema Le Lincoln in Paris as part of the Gange Sur Seine Festival, with the film's producer Samia Zaman in attendance. The film will also be shown in Toulouse's festival next month.
Gange sur Seine is an international independent Indian film festival that began on October 5 at Le Lincoln in Paris and will continue till October 8.
Directed by Shabnam Ferdousi, "Ajob Karkhana" has won the FIPRESCI Award at the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival. Additionally, the film has received the Best Debut Award at the 8th Jaipur International Film Festival in Sri Lanka.
"Ajob Karkhana" is also participating in several other important film festivals, including Kolkata International Film Festival, Pune International Film Festival, Bengaluru International Film Festival, and Nagpur International Film Festival in India, as well as FIFOG in Switzerland, Thasbihir in North America, and the Third Eye International Film Festival in London.
The producer has announced that the film will be released in Bangladesh early next year.
The film revolves around the lives of rickshaw pullers and artistes. It features prominent Indian actor Parambrata Chattopadhyay in a leading role, along with Dilruba Doyel, Shabnaz Sadia Emi, Khalid Hasan Rumy, Halim Boyati, Dilu Boyati, Kitaab Ali, amongst other artistes.
The music direction for "Ajob Karkhana" is by Labik Kamal Gourab, and the lyrics have been written by poet Helal Hafiz.
