Noted actor and director Mir Sabbir has been a known face of the entertainment world for the last couple of decades. Lately, the National Film award winning artiste has been busy with a multitude of tele-fictions for the coming Eid.

In conversation with The Daily Star, Mir Sabbir shared his plans for the coming Eid.

How many of your Eid projects will the fans get to see on this Eid?

I have acted in quite a few Eid special tele-fictions and tele-series, this time. Amongst them, I have three 7-episode-long dramas directed by Adittya Jony, Masudul Hasan Rana, and S.I Sohel respectively.

Moreover, I have also acted in two one-hour-long, tele-fictions directed by Juel Hasan, namely "Boyra Dulabhai" and "Totla Jamai". On top of that, I have also finished another tele-fiction directed by Hanif Sanket.

We have a culture of creating dramas with one episode for each day of the Eid week. How do you find that trend?

For me, an hour-long tele-fictions, tele-films and ad-less films are the best. Seven episode long tele-series for the first week of Eid, to me, seems to be leaning more towards 'commercial interest' than the audiences'. People don't have the patience to watch 7-day long Eid dramas anymore.

People have been watching projects on YouTube lately, what's your take on that?

This is true. Many have asked me about my projects and stated that they'll watch it on YouTube.  Maybe they do not get the time to watch the shows on television from their busy lives. I don't know if this situation is a hopeful or a despairing one.

Where will you be celebrating Eid this time?

I will be celebrating Eid in Dhaka this time with my family. In this scorching heat, I had to shoot many Eid specials in different locations over the last few days, that too while fasting. It was quite hard for me and I almost fell sick once. Which is why, I don't wish to travel anywhere this Eid.

Do you reminisce about your childhood Eids?

One hundred per cent—I miss those Eid days of my childhood. They are the most beautiful Eids of my life. I still remember, when I was young, I used to attend the Eid prayers with my father and siblings. Afterwards, I would meet up with my friends and we would all go watch a cinema together.

What are your plans moving forward?

In the past, I had directed at least one project for Eid. However, this time I haven't directed any. Which is why, I will be involving myself in both direction and acting in the next Eid. Furthermore, I will also be announcing about my next venture in June.
