Prosenjit to return in direction after 25 years
This year, Tollywood star Prosenjit Chatterjee impressed audiences with his roles in the web series "Jubilee" and "Scoop". Now, he's stepping into the director's shoes once again after 25 years. In a recent interview, he hinted at an official announcement regarding his directorial project in November.
Prosenjit envisions a path that transcends linguistic boundaries, saying, "While Bengali will always remain close to my heart, we may also explore Hindi and English. My aim is to elevate certain aspects of our culture and tradition to an international stage."
Prosenjit's directorial journey began with "Purushottam" in 1992, a film in which he also starred. After a hiatus of six years, he returned to the director's chair with "Ami Shei Meye" in 1998, featuring himself alongside Rituparna and Ranjit Mallick. However, it's been a quarter-century since he last directed a film, making this upcoming venture a much-anticipated revival.
Despite his directorial pursuits, the 62-year-old actor remains as busy as ever on screen. His eagerly awaited film, "Dawshom Awbotaar", directed by Srijit Mukherjee, is set to grace screens during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities.
When asked about his passion for acting, Prosenjit remarked, "As an actor, what sustains me if not my insatiable hunger? Compelling characters and captivating films still ignite my passion, growing stronger with each passing day. For me, life and cinema are inseparable."
