'World's Best Trilogy Film Festival 2023' kicks off today 

Moviyana Film Society has finally brought forth the much-awaited "World's Best Trilogy Film Festival 2023". Spanning over 128 years of world cinema, this festival pays tribute to the exceptional trilogies that have left an indelible mark on our artistic consciousness. 

 

Moviyana Film Society has finally brought forth the much-awaited "World's Best Trilogy Film Festival 2023". Spanning over 128 years of world cinema, this festival pays tribute to the exceptional trilogies that have left an indelible mark on our artistic consciousness. 

With a selection of 20 trilogies comprising a total of 60 films, this immersive event aims to inspire audiences from diverse languages and cultures to expand their minds and nourish their creative spirits through the power of film.

The festival kicks off today, Friday, at 5 pm, at National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The festival will be inaugurated by filmmaker Morshedul Islam joined by esteemed guests such as children's writer and film parliamentarian Kaijar Chowdhury and President of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, Architect Lailun Nahar Shemi.

The inaugural film trilogy will be the legendary Mrinal Sen's "Kolkata Trilogy", in commemoration of his birth centenary this year. The first movie of the trilogy, "Interview", will be screened to pay homage to Sen's remarkable contributions to cinema.

Tomorrow, the festival will continue with screenings of the remaining films from the "Kolkata Trilogy" and a special lecture exploring Mrinal Sen's political narratives in the "Kolkata Trilogy". 

Throughout the festival, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the works of other distinguished directors such as Satyajit Ray with the "Apu Trilogy" , Hrithik Kumar Ghatak's "Deshbhag Trilogy", Yasijiro Ozu's "Noriko Trilogy", Christoph Kieslowski's "Three Colors Trilogy", and many more. This cinematic extravaganza spans diverse genres and themes, providing a rich and enlightening experience for all cinephiles.

Exhibitions and film lectures will be held on the first and last weekends of every month at the studio theater auditorium of the National Theater, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. 

This monumental festival will continue for 10 months.
