HC refuses to grant bail to Sinha murder case accused
The High Court today refused to grant bail to Mohammad Abdul Aziz alias Aiaz, an accused in the murder case of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
The HC bench of Justice Krishna Debnath and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol dropped the bail petition of Abdul Aziz, it was not prepared properly.
Detained accused Abdul Aziz did not mention in the bail petition that the allegation brought against him was of criminal conspiracy behind the murder, Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi told The Daily Star.
He said Abdul Aziz was a source of the main accused suspended Teknaf OC Pradeep Kumar Das and suspended inspector Liaqat Ali of Baharchhara Investigation Centre.
Aziz's lawyer Amirul Islam said that he will move the bail petition before another HC bench next week.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin opposed the bail petition of Abdul Aziz during virtual hearing of the matter today.
Sinha was killed at an APBn checkpoint on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on the night of July 31. Local police said suspended inspector Liaqat's team had taken over the check post from three APBn officers before the killing incident.
Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, had filed the murder case with a local court on August 5. Later, Rab was tasked with its investigation.
