Elle Fanning is undoubtedly the queen of the Cannes Film Festival 2023. Turning up with look after look, she surely mesmerised the world and the fashion crowd with her bedazzled ensembles. Her look for the opening ceremony will remain in our hearts and heads for a long time, rent-free.
For the opening night, Fanning wore a custom look designed by Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen. A customised iteration of look 53 from the brand's autumn-winter ready-to-wear collection 2023, the dress consisted of an exquisite bugle beaded and crystal encrusted corset bodice that extend to sculptural petals that along the waist.
From the waist down was a voluminous pale pink tulle skirt decorated with dégradé crystals, which were hand embroidered. The gown, akin to art, was paired with jewellery from Cartier.

Fan Bingbing in custom Christopher Bu

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing returned to the famed film festival, honouring her Chinese heritage. She wore a strapless ball gown with a sweeping train, featuring elaborate graphics of tigers, foliage, and tree barks. The leaves on her hair and the dangling emerald earrings enhanced the look.

Natalie Portman in Christian Dior

Natalie Portman mesmerised the crowd, the media, and the world by wearing a recreation of the historic "Junon" dress designed by legendary couturier Christian Dior for his 1949 autumn winter collection. It is a magnificent white tulle gown consisting of a long bodice, and a skirt featuring layers as large ombre petals, like abstractions of peacock feathers without their "eyes". Each white petal was embellished with intricate dark blue beading and sequins, creating the ombre effect. She went simple with the jewellery, wearing diamond drop earrings, letting the gown be the star of the show.

Spanish actor Manu Rios wore a look from the autumn-winter 2023 menswear collection by Saint Laurent. He wore a chich satin blouse with a long neckline, exposing his chest. The pleated bottom of the blouse twists with the plunging neckline. He completed his look with black trousers and a diamond necklace from Cartier.

Portuguese supermodel Sara Sampaio walked the carpet wearing a black airy tulle gown, with large petal-like structures flowing out of the gown throughout the gown. The gown is from Maison's capsule collection, according to their official Instagram. Her necklace and earrings were from Messika Jewellery.

Actress Sofia Carson made her Cannes Film Festival debut at the "Killers of the Moon" premiere wearing an Ellie Saab couture number from the brand's Fall Winter 2021 haute couture collection. She had her princess moment wearing a crimson ruffle ball gown made in ruffle silk organza and adorned with pleats all over. Named after the legendary actress Sophia Loren, Sofia Carson wore a necklace made by Italian jeweller Damiani, also worn by Ms Loren previously.

She wore a timeless red gown, the silhouette of which hugged her frame perfectly, accompanied by a satin arm stole of the same colour.
