B Proshad Das has etched his name among the Top 30 contestants out of 80 at the dazzling Mister World 2024, held at NovaWorld Phan Thiết in Bình Thuận, Vietnam. Fresh off the global stage, the dynamic model and ISSA-certified fitness coach returns with a story of growth and inspiration. In an exclusive with Star Lifestyle, Proshad opens up about the transformative journey that led him to one of the world's most prestigious platforms and his ambitious plans to inspire and empower others.
What inspired you to compete in Mister World 2024?
After completing my O Levels, I felt stuck in a monotonous routine of school, coaching, and studying. I was searching for something meaningful that could give my life purpose. During this time, I came across a speech by an Indian actor and model who won Mister World in 2016. His sincerity and heartfelt words left a deep impression on me, inspiring me to follow his journey. He wasn't just a model; he was someone who engaged in charity, spread positivity, and embodied admirable qualities.
Subconsciously, he became my first role model, motivating me to reflect on my own life and strive for self-improvement.
This led me to explore modelling and fitness, not just as physical pursuits, but as holistic lifestyles. I also learned the importance of advocacy and stage presence in making a meaningful impact. Competing in Mister World became a way to challenge myself, grow as an individual, and find purpose by striving to inspire others and create a positive difference.
What was the most important lesson you learned during your journey in Mister World 2024?
The most important lesson I learned during my journey in Mister World 2024 is that it's not just about appearances, skills, or achievements — it's about embodying a greater purpose.
A Mister World is defined by the goodness of his heart and his efforts to make the world a better place. This understanding inspired me to focus on contributing to a healthier country and environment, as I realised that personal health is deeply connected to the well-being of the world around us.
Additionally, the competition taught me the value of cultural diversity and the unique perspectives people bring to the table. Meeting individuals from different professions and backgrounds was humbling and enriching.
Though I initially felt insecure, I grew to appreciate the beauty of meaningful cultural exchanges. I learned that life is about living in the moment, embracing every opportunity to grow, and finding meaning in fully experiencing the present. This journey not only helped me grow personally, but also reinforced the importance of striving for a purpose that goes beyond oneself.
Now that you've achieved such a high ranking at Mister World 2024, what are your plans moving forward?
My goal is to use the platform and credibility I've gained to promote health awareness and build a healthier nation. I plan to conduct workshops focusing on simple, effective exercises like squats, push-ups, and pull-ups, encouraging people to make fitness a natural part of their daily lives.
I'm passionate about inspiring the younger generation to adopt healthy habits and avoid harmful practices like drug use, emphasising the lasting joy that comes from fitness and well-being. By collaborating with like-minded individuals and organisations, I aim to create a meaningful impact and contribute to a healthier, more empowered society.
What advice would you give to future contestants who want to participate at Mister World?
My advice to future contestants is to start by asking yourself why you want to participate in Mister World. Your reason must be clear and purposeful because this is not just a casual experience — it's serious work. Knowing your "why" will guide your preparation and help you stay focused.
Once you've identified your purpose, commit to thorough preparation. Familiarise yourself with the competition's requirements, objectives, and expectations. Think of it as a structured journey rather than an impromptu trip. Proper preparation ensures you don't just show up but make a meaningful impact. Ultimately, it's about presenting your best self and staying true to your goals.
