The home is a place that provides a sense of belonging, affection and togetherness. It is where we begin and end the day and the heart of any home is in its kitchen.

Furnished originally with functional pots and utensils as well as more unexpected items like grand paintings and prints, the electric style of a fancy dining creates a welcoming area for a house. Generally the dining table is focal point of the dining room. Now the open plan layouts are common, people are used to living and dining in the same room due to a shortage of space in apartment living. Open plan layouts are particularly appropriate during events such as Eid when you can expect to be hosting friends and relatives.

Today we discuss small dining spaces or breakfast corners in the kitchen. There is a certain informality to the warmth and coziness of eating in the kitchen as opposed to in a separate dining room and this is especially inviting due to the aroma of the food that fills the kitchen

To create this kitchen dining space, we arranged a small dining table for regular meals, especially, quick lunches or breakfasts when kitchen dinings save more time than their formal counterparts. Using fabric is a wonderful way of transforming a kitchen table into an informal dining area. Since a kitchen dining table is used for cooking as well as for eating, an oil cloth can be every bit as beautiful as a traditional cotton cloth. Its wipe-clean surface makes life so much simpler as a table cloth and it often lasts for more than one sitting before a spillage of yellow spicy food or tomato ketchup ruins its pristine state.

Most kitchen utensils are attractive enough to be decorative as well as functional, so do not hide them away inside cabinets. Look around your own kitchen for wicker baskets, simple old bowls or tea kettles, wooden spoons, stainless still cups  and pick and choose between these for display combinations.

Now, we are in the rainy season. Hence, I chose green for the theme of this kitchen dining with beige cabinets and white and yellow tiles. The kitchen itself is square with a u-shaped counter. We placed a small table at the centre of the room and a narrow veranda for a wet kitchen. So, dry kitchen is excellent for festive décor. I used different green serving dishes to special food and herbs and plants for the window sills. I also used candles which is good for keeping away the mosquitos and bad odours.
