Every type of bedroom is unique. Master bedrooms are generally elegant with ornamental furniture. Children's rooms, an area that sees various activities, from studying to playing, are colourful, fun and funky. Nursery rooms are also very interesting with lots of toys and colourful décor walls. But a teenager's room is much different from these.
A teenage room reflects the teenager - creative, music-loving or sports crazy. The room can represent hobbies or activities. And we must encourage their hobbies or extracurricular activities. Academic education is important in our lives. But the old phrase, 'health is wealth', is equally true. Any sport is very good for our health, and if there's a sporty member in our family, we must appreciate and encourage him/her. Family encouragements are always a good stimulation for children.
Today, our focus is on a teenager's room. The room is very spacious and the furniture are similar to other rooms of the house. All bedrooms are decorated by wooden furniture with walnut polish. We also placed a wooden bed with brown lacquer polish. On the other side, we made a custom made long cabinet for regular things and party wear. If you want to keep your room clutter-free, then an organised wardrobe is excellent. Efficient storage is also a must in the contemporary bedroom. In the middle part of the wardrobe, we also arranged a dressing facility with a wide mirror. A mirror always enhances the space. The double bed and big wardrobe creates a matured room like the master bedroom.
But if you look carefully at this room, the most attractive part is the colour palette. If you gaze into the blue heavens on a clear day, or into a cool blue ocean, you will feel calm. As most people like this colour, it has been popular in home decorating. Soft blues encourage quiet conversations rather than a party atmosphere. However, if light blue is mixed with darker tones, a room will look more sophisticated. Strong, deep blue works well in mat, eggshell, or gloss on doors and woodwork, or can be incorporated into furnishings and accessories. According to this colour theme, we created a beautiful wall painting as a bed backdrop. The combination of blue, grey, beige and white creates a modern attractive painting and very unusual wall décor.
Opposite of the bed, we placed a custom-made reading table and a cosy sofa for reading or listening to music. These are very common elements. Yet, a simple shelf makes this room unusual and unique. The shelf is full of crests. This young boy is very a good football player and has won many tournaments. These crests hold a lot of fond memories for him, and hence the rationale for this display corner.
Due to his sports-loving attitude, I also suggested to keep a treadmill in his room. It is a big object, so its placement is very hard. Generally, a separate exercise room is preferred. But it is not possible for all of us. So, you can easily place exercise instruments in the person's room who needs it or uses it the most.
Bedroom lighting is another very important area of focus. We made a sleek false ceiling over the bed and reading table. The spotlights illuminate décor wall and paintings. Three vertical blue art pieces bring more of a cool-looking effect.
Natural lighting is very healthy for a bedroom. Hence, we arranged a white day and night curtain for the windows. It also provides a fresh mood. Alongside, we used plain beige tiles for flooring.
In the end, as a designer what I can say is that the space is yours and it will speak of your personality. So, for décor, I always think the client's desire is to make his or her place like a dream. I would suggest creating a contemporary look, clutter free ambience, bold or mild colour palette and find out their hobbies and create a lovely corner to their liking.
