Machines at the Karnaphuli Paper Mills, in Chattogram’s Kaptai, have been lying idle since it stopped producing papers with locally procured raw materials in 2017 due to poor quality of equipment and material. Though the machines were used for a short period to produce papers with internationally procured pulp wood, that has also been stopped due to various issues with the suppliers.
