At least 10 workers were injured in an explosion at a factory in Meghna ghat area of Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila yesterday morning.

The victims were undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, said Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the hospital.

All the victims suffered 15 to 20 burn injuries during the blast, he also said.

Quoting the victims, the physician said that the incident took place at a factory of Bashundhara Group around 10:00am yesterday.

Abdul Mannan, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence (Narayanganj-2), said that they were informed of a fire incident by the factory authorities.

"The fire was doused before the fire fighters started for the factory. One unit of the fire service was sent to the scene. Details could be known after primary investigation," he added.
