Five days have passed since a young woman was harassed on Dhaka University campus on the night of June 8, however, police are yet to identify the accused.

The victim filed a case at Shahbagh Police Station a day later after the incident.

Police meanwhile said they did not identify the accused person as they have not got solid evidence, reports our DU correspondent.

Primarily, police tried to check some CCTV footage in front of Sir AF Rahman Hall Main Road but the cameras were found to be useless, said Moudut Hawlader, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station.

"We are trying to identify the person and continue our investigation. We are also trying to collect CCTV footage from the adjoining areas," he said.

The victim said she had seen the face of the culprit and would be able to identify him. The accused person is aged around 32 to 35, said the victim.

The victim said she was feeling traumatised after the incident and now she feels unsafe as the person has not yet been arrested.

While talking to the Daily Star the victim today said, "It is very regrettable that the police did not identify the person although five days have already passed. I have no faith in them as they did not collect evidence yet. DU is a famous place but our CCTV cameras remain unused."

"We are giving all the support from our side and we will cordially help the police in this issue. We expect that the accused will be identified and punished," DU Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said.
