Yunus goes to Vatican for Pope Francis funeral

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus left Qatar for the Vatican around 9:25 am (12:25 pm Bangladesh Standard Time) today to attend the funeral of Pope Francis.

He is expected to reach Rome by 2:15pm (Central European Summer Time), where he will be received by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vatican City, according to the press wing of the chief adviser.

An hour after his arrival, the Chief Adviser will visit Saint Peter's Square at 3:15pm to pay homage to the mortal remains of the head of the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, vicar general of His Holiness for Vatican City, will offer an official greeting to the chief adviser and the Bangladesh delegation at Saint Peter's Square.

On Saturday, around 9:30am, the chief adviser will again visit Saint Peter's Square to attend the funeral mass of Pope Francis, who died on Monday aged 88.

The chief adviser is expected to return to Dhaka in the early hours on Monday.
