14 more BNP men sent to jail, one remanded
A Dhaka court today sent 12 BNP leaders and activists to jail in a case filed over the crude bomb blast in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office on December 3.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ataullah passed the order after rejecting their bail and remand prayers.
The 12 accused are Md Robiul Islam, Md Ishtique Imon, Abu Zafor Himel, Md Mehedi Hasan Tushar, Rafique Bepary, Mahbub Alam Robin, Md Sharfaraj Miah, Md Rahamat Ullah, Ruhul Amin, Md Sohel Howlader, Al Amin, and Md Mamun.
The court also placed BNP leader engineer Md Fakhrul Alam on a two-day remand and sent two others -- Md Zabed Ahmed and Mizanur Rahman -- to jail in a case filed over the clash between BNP men and police in the Nayapaltan area on December 7.
These 15 BNP leaders and activists were arrested yesterday.
On December 4, at least 75 leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies were sued over the crude bomb blast.
In the case filed over the Nayapaltan clash, police arrested 455 BNP men.
Among them were party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas.
