4 killed in Kushtia, Laxmipur road crashes
At least four people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Kushtia and Laxmipur districts today.
Of the deceased, three persons including a child were killed in Kushtia and one was killed in Laxmipur, reports UNB.
In Kushtia, three people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a three-wheeler on Kushta-Jhenaidah highway in Bottala area this noon.
Two of the deceased were identified as Shahbul, 12, of Daulatpur upazila and Shipon, 28, of Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga district while the identity of the child could not be known immediately, UNB reports.
Eyewitnesses said the accident took place as a Kushtia-bound truck hit the three-wheeler around 2:00pm, leaving two dead on the spot and injuring four others.
Later, one of them died at Kushtia General Hospital while undergoing treatment.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital.
In Laxmipur, a motorcyclist was killed and another seriously injured at Samra in Ramganj upazila on Ramganj-Hajiganj road this morning.
The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain, son of Hossain Mia of Kolochma in Ramganj upazila.
The injured, Makbul Hossain, another rider of the motorbike, was admitted to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex, reports UNB.
The accident took place when the motorbike crashed into a microbus, leaving the duo seriously injured, said Md Tota Mia, officer-in-charge of
Ramganj Police Station.
They were taken to the sadar hospital where Faruk was declared dead, the OC added.
