Modric still wants Inter move
World Cup Golden Ball winner Luka Modric still harbours hope of joining Inter Milan even as the Real Madrid star midfielder has been included in the squad for Real’s UEFA Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
The rumour surrounding his Real Madrid exit refused to go away and this time it was the player’s agent Marko Naletilic, who has talked about a move to Inter Milan, saying that the midfielder is thrilled by the concept of playing for Inter.
“Modric didn't just think about playing at Inter, he's really thrilled by the idea of having a big role with the Nerazzurri,” Naletilic said.
"I have the feeling that sooner or later, Modric will play in Italy. He grew up watching Serie A."
Modric was one of the standout performers of the World Cup as his team Croatia made it to the final of the showpiece event. Croatia lost to France in the final but Modric was recognised for his great performances.
Real Madrid have already allowed star player Cristiano Ronaldo to leave for Italian giants Juventus and Modric leaving could be a telling blow before the start of the new season.
Madrid president Florentino Perez had earlier said that Modric could only leave if his buy-out clause was met.
"The only possibility that Modric leaves is by paying €750 million," Perez had told reporters.
The midfielder is a vital cog in the Real lineup and won four Champions League trophies since his move from Tottenham in 2012.
