Benapole port workers go on indefinite strike
Workers responsible for loading and unloading goods at Benapole port warehouses went on an indefinite strike yesterday demanding payment of their salary arrears.
Jahangir Alam Lal, president of Benapole Port Handling Workers Union, said they have not yet received salary for October.
He said they would go for tougher movement if their demand is not realised.
Abdul Awal, director of Benapole port, said they gave the wages to the contractors but if they did not pay the workers, necessary steps would be taken to rectify the problem.
