Reports on Shafik’s admission unusual: BNP
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today termed “unusual” the media reports that journalist Shafik Rehman admitted to his link with the alleged conspiracy to abduct and kill Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
It seems very unusual that Shafik Rehman made any admission about his involvement in the alleged conspiracy, Khan told reporters after placing wreaths at Ziaur Rahman’s grave at city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka.
“It also seems to us incredible that a peace-loving, patriot and democratic minded person like him could have involvement in such an incident,” Nazrul said.
“As a journalist, he [Rehman] can collect information about the Prime Minister’s son’s corruption and misdeeds for using the info for professional purposes. He might try to know about Joy’s wrongdoings.”
Many people deny, after their release, statements they had made during remand, the BNP leader pointed out.
