Fearless songs ushering in good deeds
Ushering in good deeds, artistes of Chhayanaut serenaded fearless songs in celebration of a two-day (May 7-8) Rabindra Utshab at its main auditorium. The opening day's event started off with a choral performance of the song “Shubho Karmo Poth-e Dhoro Nirbhoy Gaan”. Several artistes also danced to the live choral song “Hridoy Amar Oi Bujhi Tor Baishakhi Jhor”.
Eminent writer-cultural personality Mafidul Haque welcomed all at the festival. “There is an individual aspect in enjoying the arts of Tagore. When a nation celebrates and enjoys that artistic creation in unison, it becomes more beautiful surpassing that dimension,” said Mafidul Haque.
The highlight of the event was a beautiful musical presented by artistes of Nritya Nandan. Directed by noted dancer-choreographer Sharmila Banerjee, the artistes danced to the song “Probhu Tomar Paney”.
Tagore enthusiasts thronged to the festival venue to thoroughly enjoy every bit of the performances, be it choral or solo songs, dance or recitation. The stage too was aesthetically designed with Tagore paintings. Baitalik artistes rendered two choral songs “Joy Tobo Bichitra Ananda” and “Pran Bhoriye Trisha Horiye”.
Azizur Rahman Tuhin, Anandamoyi Majumdar, Iffat Ara Dewan, Jhumur Ahmed, Tapan Mahmud, Sajed Akbar, Mahadev Ghosh, Roquaiya Hasina and Tanjina Parveen Toma were among others who offered solo songs at the event. Jayanta Roy and Tropa Majumdar recited from Tagore creation.
Apart from the performance of solo and choral songs, group dance and recitation, yesterday's (May 8) programme featured a special episode called “Amar Rabindranath”. With elaboration of Tagore classics, Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman wished to listen to his favourite songs while Chhayanaut artistes presented those at the event.
