“Bangabandhu on Canvas” concludes

“Bangabandhu on Canvas”, a solo painting exhibition by artist Kiriti Ranjan Biswas concluded yesterday (August 31) at the gallery 3 of the National Art Plaza, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). 

The nine-day exhibition was inaugurated by speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on August 23 in presence of distinguished guests including artist Rafiqun Nabi, Professor Syed Abul Barak Alvi, noted economist Dr Abul Barakat and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus. 

The exhibition was arranged by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy as part of its month-long arrangement to commemorate the 40th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

The exhibition, which is the third solo by the artist, features 42 canvases comprising of oil painting, mixed media, acrylic on canvas, soft pastel on paper and dry brush on paper. The portraits spontaneously reflect the personality of Bangabandhu from various perspectives.  

Kiriti Ranjan Biswas was born in 1965 at Kustia, Bangladesh and completed his BFA in 1990 from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. He later received admission at Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal, India and completed his MVA from there in 1995. 

His first solo painting exhibition was held in Kolkata, India in 1997. He is not only a painter but also a sculptor and an acclaimed theatre designer.
