3.5 lakh yaba tablets seized in Ctg
Police recovered 3.5 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets worth Tk 10.5 crore from a house in Anwara upazila of Chittagong early today.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the house of a listed yaba smuggler Abul Kashem at Gahira village of the upazila around 4:30am, said Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station.
“We had information that smugglers brought a big consignment of yaba pills to Teknaf from Myanmar. They planned to smuggle it into Anwara through small trawlers in several phases,” the OC said.
Sensing presence of police, members of the house fled the scene, he also said.
Police recovered 3.5 lakh yaba tablets worth Tk 10.5 crore from a plastic sack under the couch of the house, Dulal said.
Drive to arrest Kashem was underway, the OC added.
