Two ‘militant siblings’ held in Tangail

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested two siblings for their involvement in militancy from Kalihati upazila of Tangail last night.

They are Nurul Huda alias Masum, 34, and Syed Mazharul Islam alias Khokon, 28, residents of Elenga municipality, our Tangail correspondent reports.

Following a lead, law enforcers cordoned off a house and conducted an overnight drive there, said Selim Mohammad Zahangir, commanding officer of Rab-12.

The duo was arrested from the suspected hideout and their arrest followed recovery of a drone, machetes and controversial Islamic literature, he said.

Today’s raid in Dhaka's Mirpur was based on the information provided by them, he claimed.

A case will be lodged with Kalihati Police Station in this connection, he added.
