Neymar is happy for Messi
Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar was delighted to see his friend and former teammate Lionel Messi make it to the World Cup.
The Brazilian and the Argentine had formed a lethal partnership during their time at Barcelona and won the coveted treble during the 2014/15 season.
Much have been made of Neymar’s move to PSG this summer with reports suggesting that the Brazilian wanted to get out of Messi’s shadow.
Many people even believed that Brazil would throw away the game against Chile so that Argentina cannot make it to the World Cup. However, Brazil made a mockery out of such assumptions by winning their final match 3-0 against a strong Chile side.
Neymar was again influential as Brazil ousted Chile from the World Cup. Barca new signing Paulinho scored Brazil’s first after Chile’s Claudio Bravo had parried away Neymar’s free-kick. Neymar then provided the assist for Brazil’s second goal when he played in Gabriel Jesus, who scored an easy tap-in.
“I am Happy for him,” said a delighted Neymar afte Messi struck a vital hattrick against Ecuador to drag Argentina to the World Cup.
"I'm happy to see a friend participate in such an important competition. I also have friends in the Chile team but we're men. We have to play to win every game."
