ACC catches govt officer during bribery
An official of Administrator of Waqfs, Bangladesh, an Islam-based government-run social welfare institution, was caught red-handed today while taking bribe.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md Nazim Uddin sued Motahar Hossain, an assistant director of the institution, for taking the bribe.
He was caught receiving Tk 50,000 as bribe from a client at his office today, said Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya, public relations officer for the anti-graft body ACC.
According to the case statement, a client complained to ACC against Motahar and said the latter demanded Tk 50,000 as bribe for services.
Today was the day of delivering the bribe. ACC officials sprung a trap and caught Motahar red handed while taking the bribe. Motahar was arrested on the spot.
