Gopalganj road accident death toll reaches 8

Another person, who suffered injuries in a road accident as a bus rammed a truck in Betgram area on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj on Friday night, died on Saturday morning, raising the death toll from the incident to eight.

The deceased was identified as Khan Nur Islam, son of Khan Abdul Hakim, a resident of Dashani area in the district town of Bagerhat, said Pankaj Chandra Roy, Bagerhat police super.

Khan was also joint general secretary of Bagerhat municipality unit of Awami League.

Seven people were killed and 20 others, including Nur, were injured in the road crash took place around 8:00 pm when a Pirojpur-bound 'DolaParibahan' bus hit a truck, fully loaded with trunks, from the backside.

Nur was undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
