Abahani extend record premier league title haul

Abahani beat Sheikh Jamal DC 2-0 tonight to retain their Bangladesh Premier League title and extend their record title-haul in the top-tier professional football league.

The Sky Blues went ahead through defender Nasir Choiwdhury's strike in the first half before Sunday Chizoba wrapped up the victory with a second deep into stoppage time. 

The win took Abahani to 51 points and ensured a record sixth title in the professional league era for the Dhanmondi giants with a game in hand. 

Sheikh Jamal are in second position with 47 points while Chittagong Abahani are in third position on 43 points. 

Abahani will face their Chittagong namesake in their last match while Sheikh Jamal will play against relegation-threatened Farashganj SC in their last match.
