Mash takes over from Bashar as most successful BD ODI captain
Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza becomes most successful ODI captain with the Tigers' 91-run win over Zimbabwe.
For many, the inspirational leader was already the best captain in Bangladesh's cricket history and yesterday's win against Zimbabwe placed him at the top of the list of captains who have the most number of wins for Bangladesh.
Mahsrafe took over from former Tigers' captain Habibul Bashar, who attained 29 victories as Bangladesh captain from 69 matches. With victory against Zimbabwe Mashrafe overtook Bashar with 30 wins from 53 matches.
Shakib Al Hasan is in third place. The all-rounder, who was recently named as Tigers' Test captain, had 23 wins from 50 matches as Bangladesh captain.
Bashar had a win percentage of 42.02 percent while Shakib had a win percentage of 46.93. Mashrafe, who ensured quarterfinal berth for Bangladesh in World Cup and led the team into the Champions Trophy semifinal has a win percentage of 58.82.
